Day treatment programs provide comprehensive services for SED youth through supervised, planned activities and intensive patient-staff interaction.  Treatment is usually provided in a year-round, five-day-per-week program and is integrated with appropriate education services.  Approval of the child's school district is required.

Combined treatment and education program for SED and developmentally disabled children 5 to 21 years old.  Approximately 100 youngsters served in small classes.  Services include evaluation, diagnosis, summer program, therapeutic nursery, aftercare.  Treatment includes individual and group therapy, strong emphasis on parent-child therapy.  Requires approval of child's local Committee on Special Education (CSE).

Offering full and half-day treatment Monday through Friday, based on clinical and educational needs.  Day treatment services for 13 to 17 year olds, including educational services, medication management, cognitive-behavioral and psychoeducational treatment approaches, case management and discharge planning.

Day treatment services provided to 35 youngsters between the ages of 10 and 18.  Hawthorne Cedar Knolls component serves boys who might be involved with the court and characterized as acting-out with aggressive or impulsive behaviors.  Linden Hill component serves adolescent boys and girls who exhibit symptoms such as marked withdrawal, depression or suicidal thoughts. Year-round program includes evaluation, psychotherapy for adolescent and family, special education, recreation therapy, vocational guidance, after school program.  Requires approval of child's local CSE.

Bard House serves 30 children from 5 to 12 years of age.  Day treatment program provides intensive structured, individual, group and family treatment and rehabilitation for SED children.  Full special educational program provided by White Plains public school system.

Intensive Day Treatment (IDT)
An alternative to or transition from hospitalization, or placement for young persons in acute crisis.  Supports child at home and in school until crisis behaviors have subsided.  Includes evaluation, treatment, medication, family intervention and educational services.  Services provided for 30 to 45 days, require the consent of parent, child, school and IDT staff.  Each program serves 20 children.

An adolescent day treatment program of St. Vincent's Hospital and White Plains High School.  Links education, mental health and family support services to enable SED adolescents to remain at home and in a mainstream educational setting.  Uses a psychiatric rehabilitation approach to enable adolescents to define their own vocational, social and academic goals and to develop the skills necessary to achieve them.  Includes work with families and crisis services.

A collaborative mental health, educational program for high school students with emotional disturbance.  Includes psychopharmacology in conjunction with individual, group and family treatment.  Two high school classes for dually diagnosed MR/DD-SED youth and two classes for MR/DD only.  CSE approval required.
