Westchester Jewish Community Services - Family Matters provides a wide range of services to children and adolescents who are seriously emotionally disturbed and their families living in Mt. Vernon, Yonkers, New Rochelle and Northern Westchester.

Program Services:   Services include screening and assessment, clinical services, case management, in-home services, rehabilitation, recreation and family support.  Individualized care plans are developed and the program works with one or more child-serving systems (education, child welfare or juvenile justice).  Flexible services respond to individual needs and are available at convenient times and places.  Staff is available 24 hours a day for crisis situations. 

Population Targeted : Seriously emotional disturbed children ages 5 to 18 who:

  • Have a history repeated in-patient hospitalizations
  • Have tried multiple treatment alternatives, without success.
  • Require community-based mental health treatment

Unique Aspects of ProgramFamily Matters provides both the individualized care coordination and also serve as the therapist for the child or family.

WJCS Safety Net

Westchester Jewish Community Services Safety Net is a program for youth 7 – 15, who are seriously emotionally disturbed (SED) and have problems with sexual aggressiveness. 

Program Services: The Safety Net teams a safety coordinator with a clinician to provide safety assessments and community-based intervention aimed at keeping the child safe and stopping the aggressive behavior.
