Kykuit, The Rockefeller Estate

Pocantico Hills.  Tours leave from Philipsburg Manor
(Sleepy Hollow, Route 9).

    A property of the national trust for historic preservation, this magnificent estate was home to four generations of the Rockefeller family.


Lyndhurst

Tarrytown (635 South Broadway, Route 9).

    Built in 1838, this Gothic Revival-style mansion features a fine collection of 19th - and 20th - century decorative arts.  Other features include the Rose Cottage; a children's playhouse and a rose garden.

Washington Irving's Sunnyside

Tarrytown (west Sunnyside Lane off Route 9).

    This 19th - Century estate was home to Washington Irving, best know as the author of the The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.  The quaint cottage designed by Irving includes a large collection of original objects.  The gardens feature spectacular views of the Hudson River.


Neuberger Museum of Art

Purchase, Purchase College, SUNY, (735 Anderson Road).

    The museum's permanent collection emphasizes 20th century American, European and African art and Greek pottery.  Family events, gallery tours and special film, dance and lecture programs offered year-round.
