Lyndhurst

Tarrytown (635 South Broadway, Route 9).

Built in 1838, this Gothic Revival-style mansion features a fine collection of 19^th - and 20^th - century decorative arts.  Other features include the Rose Cottage; a children's playhouse and a rose garden.

Washington Irving's Sunnyside

Tarrytown (west Sunnyside Lane off Route 9).

This 19^th - Century estate was home to Washington Irving, best know as the author of the The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.  The quaint cottage designed by Irving includes a large collection of original objects.  The gardens feature spectacular views of the Hudson River.

Neuberger Museum of Art

Purchase, Purchase College, SUNY, (735 Anderson Road).

The museum's permanent collection emphasizes 20^th century American, European and African art and Greek pottery.  Family events, gallery tours and special film, dance and lecture programs offered year-round.
